22 Week Update: Baby Girl Has a Name!

I am so happy to be home from Dublin! I had a wonderful time but traveling that far being pregnant was a little harder than I anticipated and I am still tired! :) Some of the most exciting things so far have happened in this week. Baby Girl has been kicking up a storm and I knew that by the time I was home that Marco would be able to feel her. Sure enough, the night I landed was the first time he felt her. He felt two good kicks in a row and was really excited. I have been feeling her since just before 18 weeks and I have been so anxious to share that with Marco.

The other exciting moment came when we decided on Baby Girl's name. We have been throwing around names for the last few weeks and knew from the start we wanted her to have an Italian name- that was a given! We narrowed it down, but I kept coming back to one name. I love everything about it, but especially what it means (explanation below) and it just felt right in so many ways. So, sometime around November 2, 2012 we will welcome:

Gianna Lucia Angioni

Gianna means "God is Gracious" and Lucia means "Light".  The meanings really stuck with me and I couldn't get them out of my head, especially Gianna. When we were looking at names, I added Gianna to the list. When I saw what it meant and had a chance to think through what the last five years have brought to Marco and I it just touched a place in my heart. We've had our share of loss and sadness but more recently an abundance of great things that have just fallen into place. This little baby is God's most gracious gift to us and we are so incredibly blessed to be her parents. Lucia means "Light" and I know Gianna will be the light of our lives. I can not wait to see her face and hold her in my arms. So, Gianna Lucia Angioni it is!

There have been lots of great things happening in the Angioni family this week. My sister-in-law, Nannina, got engaged to her boyfriend Jamie and we are SO excited for them!!!!! They are so happy together and the perfect match. They came into town this weekend because this year we celebrated "Half-Thanksgiving". We decided last year that Thanksgiving was way too much fun to only have once a year so in 2012 we would celebrate twice. Marco's Aunt Cindy, Uncle Mike, Uncle Danny and Grandma all came into town as well and we headed over to the Matsuura's house for a Thanksgiving feast. It was great to have the newly engaged couple here for the weekend and Jamie's family and my mom joined in the fun as well. I am still full...

In sad news, Bella is really not doing well. I will do a separate post on her later this week. She greatly declined while I was in Ireland and has been struggling a lot in the last week since I've been home.

How far along? 22 weeks
Total weight gain: About 15.5lbs total. WOAH! How did that happen with all the miles upon miles of walking in Dublin?! Doctor says it's perfectly fine/normal/within range (I freaked out) and some of it is definitely just water weight in this freakin' hot desert. Um, yes, and the rest is in my boobs.
Maternity clothes? Yes on the bottom, mostly regular tops.
Stretch marks? Nope, still using my Mama Bee oil.
Sleep: Better since I returned from Dublin.
Best moment of the week: Marco feeling Gianna kick for the first time!!! Getting a sneak peak at her with my mom. :) Hearing everything was on track at our 22 week appointment and all our genetic testing came out negative.
Miss anything: Not this week.
Movement: She moves a lot in the late afternoon (which was night time in Dublin). Around 2-3pm she is a little wiggler.
Food cravings: I needed a Dunkin Donut this week. I shared with Bella.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope
Gender: Girl!
Symptoms: Some tightening in my tummy like a rubber band. Thought it may have been Braxton Hicks but the doctor says it's too early for that. It's probably just my muscles stretching.
Belly button in or out: In but it is getting flatter!
Wedding rings on or off: On
Labor Signs: Nope
Happy or moody most of the time: I was a little moody this week. I think it has a lot to do with Bella's condition deteriorating. I am trying not to get overwhelmed.
Looking forward to: Registering, getting the nursery ready.
